An Cala, Shore Street, Port Charlotte
An Cala is a traditional Islay cottage on two floors, providing guests with a quietly stylish base for your exploration of the many pleasures of the Isle of Islay.
Downstairs is a spacious, comfortable sitting room with an open fire, a television, a piano and lots of books and art for visitors to enjoy.
Visitors may light the open fire in the sitting room, always using the supplied fireguard.
Upstairs are three bedrooms; two with double beds and one bedroom with two single beds, sleeping six people. There is also a sofa bed in the sittingroom which can sleep a further two people. Two of the bedrooms look out over the sea, and going to sleep with the sound of the sea is one of the most wonderful features of the An Cala experience. The bathroom, also upstairs, boasts a long deep bath and an electric shower giving constant hot water.

An Cala's equally spacious kitchen/dining room is the hub of the house, and home of the oil-fired Esse range which provides hot water and runs the radiators. The Esse requires no attention whatsoever, and guests are welcome to cook on its hob and use the oven. There is an electric cooker with fan oven and grill, and also a microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.
And for visitors who don't wish to cook at all, the Port Charlotte Hotel or the Loch Indaal Hotel, both merely a short walk from An Cala, offer excellent alternatives for lunches, bar meals or dinners or a bolthole for a quick dram !
